G&A wins Gold and Silver at the 2016 Pele Awards ceremony



Hawai`i’s top recognition for excellence in advertising design is the Pele awards. At the April 23rd award ceremony on Oahu, Gilbert & Associates was once again awarded top honors amongst all of Hawai`i’s advertising and design firms.

Amy Mendolia, Art Director, accepted the awards on behalf of G&A. The most popular and most competitive was the logo category. G&A won a Silver award for the unique Minit Stop chicken/shaka logo. “I was thrilled and honored to be one of the best 2 logos produced in the State of Hawai`i for the year, especially knowing how many are entered.” said Amy.

The Gold Pele was won in the Packaging category, for the design of a fun Minit Stop food container using whimsical isms and phrases written on the box. Amy described the container saying “We wanted something that would entertain the person while enjoying the great food inside.”

“The recognition we receive is a reflection on the great clients we have. The freedom to explore new creative ideas is what makes this business so fun. During the past several years we have been honored with over 20 advertising awards, including National recognition. We look forward to seeing how we do Nationwide in the upcoming Addy Awards.” said Vice President Nicholas Gilbert.

Kimo Haynes, CEO of Hawaii Petroleum said, “We are very proud that the logo and packaging that Gilbert & Associates created for Minit Stop have been chosen as top designs in the State.”
